My weight-loss story is one that many can relate to and find themselves in. I’ve been always struggling with weight ever since I was a young girl, but nothing major.
Not until I started college.
Having to stay up late and study, being away from home and everyone I knew along with the additional stress of living alone caused me to stop paying attention to what I eat.
I was staying up till dawn, eating fast food, drinking soda and energy drinks, every food that’s high in carbs and could get me through that day, or that exam.

This unhealthy style of living continued even after I graduated because I really stopped caring about my body.

I worked as a server maintainer, so my job didn’t involve much physical activity, and it often required working from home.
I had a part-time job at a call-center too, so my life revolved around my laptop mostly, without much time to do any physical exercise or cook healthy meals.
Even when I did have time, it was spent with my boyfriend Eric, playing on our Xbox or watching series.
He was a major foodie and a gamer as well so that further contributed to me (and him) getting massive amounts of weight.
And I think I was going to continue with that lifestyle until that day came…I was proposed to.
The thing I dreaded the most was now becoming something I would have to face – wearing a bridal dress.
I’ve always dreamt of having a big wedding and wearing a princess dress, but that was a dream I knew I wasn’t going to realize if I continued as I was. I had to lose weight, and I had to lose it as soon as possible.

Damn, I was even eager to start dieting!
I began experimenting with different diets, from those that promote healthy eating to those that basically starve you.
None of those seemed to be compatible with my body and the way I needed to diet.
Scheduled eating just caused me to starve myself to a certain point in the day, and then binge eat so I can fill my stomach till the next meal, and that caused me to put more weight, not lose it.
Like, every single one of those types of diets just tricks you into thinking “oh, I can have one or two slices of chips” or “I can eat this piece of cake and eat less the next meal”.
But, wrong. You can’t do that. I did that and gained even more weight. But that was because I was so hungry all the time.
I was getting so frustrated with myself that I began to let it all out on poor Eric.
I was constantly thinking “why isn’t this working as they said it did” or “how can everyone else do it, but not me”. But trust me.
Everyone else CAN’T DO IT. You don’t see the failure stories on social media, do you?
So…being frustrated because I couldn’t lose weight resulted in me starting to fight with Eric more often, which consequentially made me distance myself from him, the biggest support I had in my life.
I became depressed and unwilling to do anything, so I just sat at home, in my bedroom, feeling sorry for myself all day.
I began thinking I could never be happy again. Not until I lose the weight I wanted.
Ultimately, in a desperate attempt, I tried cutting down my portions to a bare minimum, which starved me to the point my health started deteriorating.
One day as I was walking down the hallway I started filling foggy and fainted.
Eric freaked out on me and immediately took me to the doctor to do blood tests. And they returned with a devastating blow.
Not only was my blood weakened, but I all the processed food I was eating caused major clogs in my fingers’ veins, which ultimately led to chronic inflammation.
And that can turn into a life full of pain, which was something that terrified me.
Now it wasn’t about my wedding anymore, it was my life and my wellbeing that were at stake.
I went home and cried my eyes out. That day was the lowest point in my life I believe.
The sole thought of being unable to move my hands and fingers was just…sheer horror for me.
It wouldn’t just mean a life of pain for me, but it meant that I wouldn’t be able to do my job anymore and I wouldn’t be able to be independent.
I went into a really dark place for a few hours then.
But being at my lowest point triggered something in me, something that said “No, you’re not going to let life beat you. You’re not going to sit and pity yourself anymore.
You’re going to get up and do what you intended to do all along- lose weight and be healthy”.
I got up and gave it another go. I immediately searched for diets for a busy lifestyle and found one that sounded odd at first but turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever found on the Internet.
It was a diet of smoothies only.
Nothing complicated, nothing to buy or cook, just…smoothies. Yes, I know it does sound weird, but trust me, it works well.

How The Smoothie Diet Works
The way this works is that instead of eating high-calorie food that contains tons of fat and grease, I was eating only clean food, mostly fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
These gave me everything my body needs but didn’t have the harmful carbs that are bad for my body and my health.

Time-saving – As I said, time was something I had limited – both in daily life and in the time available to lose weight.

I wasn’t running late to work, didn’t have to stay up late to cook complex meals or eat something totally random.

Conclusion: Very Happy With The Smoothie Diet
Oh my. Just writing this my hands are trembling from excitement. Me and Eric finally decided on getting a date for the wedding.
Now I know that my dream of wearing that beautiful wedding dress will come true!
I will be able to walk down the aisle proud of myself and what I’ve accomplished.
I won’t have to feel ashamed of what I’ve done to my body and try to cover it up with layers of clothes. But, that will be in the future. Let’s talk about how I’m feeling now.

I’m not ashamed to go out with other people and talk with them. It’s my anniversary tomorrow and I will finally put on a dress, something I haven’t done in God knows how many years. And you can bet that it won’t be a maxi dress!
Oh, and yes, having more confidence helps a lot in love life too. I think my fiancée is very grateful for that.
But one of the most positive outcomes of being on this diet was that Eric has been asking me to make him a smoothie more often.
He hasn’t been eating so much fatty food lately as well, which means he’s thinking about changing his habits too.
Having a healthy lifestyle together with the person you love is one of the best things in life. We’re now planning our wedding too, so my life has finally taken a turn for the better.
