Top 11 Battery Powered and Rechargeable Blenders: Complete Buying Guide 2019

Battery-powered blenders are the thing of the 21st century, and it’s no wonder that it’s so with all the focus being placed on healthy food and healthy living.

However, many people rush to buy themselves a battery-powered blender like everyone else, without previously analyzing the market and seeing what they need to look for so they can choose the best battery powered blender.

To avoid this from happening to you, I’ll explain in brief what you need to look for when you’re choosing a battery-powered blender and why it matters.

After that, I’ll also give you some advice on the top 11 battery-powered blenders that previous users have enjoyed using.

What to look for when buying a battery-powered blender

Since the main point of battery-powered blenders is to make a smoothie on the go, one of the main features you should be looking at is its portability, or how easy it is to carry it around.

You have to be able to carry it everywhere with you and fit it in a backpack or a purse so it can serve its purpose of giving you freshness wherever you go.

Of course, some may say that there are many kitchen blenders that are as light as a feather, but all those require electricity to work, so they lose on the portability factor right there.

How simple it is to use

If you have to spend 10 minutes just on preparing the battery-powered blender, then what’s the point of even having one?

Or having to attach 20 different accessories?

Not only would it complicate things, but you could potentially lose the small parts and end up having to pay to replace them constantly.

These are the main reasons why you should look for a battery-powered blender that is easy to use and comes with a few parts that are easy to attach and detach.

This will allow you to quickly attach, blend, detach and pack the blender back to where it was.

Adequacy of usage

Battery-powered blenders are just battery-powered blenders after all.

They can’t compete with electrical blenders in power and speed, something you have to be aware of before buying one.

Batteries drain fast at high powers and fast rotations and to maximize the capacity of battery-powered blenders, they are made to operate at lower speeds and slower rotations.

This allows them to be used over and over again without having to recharge them on every use.

And since the rotation speed is slower, you have to carefully choose the type of things you want to blend with your battery-powered blender.

If you choose foods that are too big and difficult to blend, you might end up with a clunky mess instead of a juicy, fresh drink.

Speed and power

As with any other blender you would look for on the market, it’s important to know how powerful the blender you’re buying is and how fast it will blend your drinks.

It’s pointless if you have to wait for 20 minutes for it to blend your drinks.

You should instead look for a blender that is powerful enough to match your blending needs.

For instance, if you prefer blending grains and seeds, you would need a blender that is more powerful and capable of blending them without wearing down faster.

And the opposite, if you plan on blending small pieces of fruit with juice or yogurt, you won’t need that much power or speed, so there wouldn’t be a need for you to pay the extra money that comes with extra power.

Battery life

Again, this depends on what you need from a blender and how frequently you plan to use it with a single charge.

Because this is what makes the electrical and battery-powered blenders completely different, you need to understand that you won’t get the same effects and power with battery blenders as you would with the electrical ones.

However, a 12-volt battery power should be enough to whip up a delicious smoothie or two.

Another question to ask yourself is if you want a rechargeable blender or use a battery-powered blender.

On the rechargeable blenders, once the battery is spent you can plug them into a power outlet or their stands to get the battery back on.

On the other hand, battery-powered blenders usually come with 2 sets of rechargeable batteries.

You use one in the blender and once the first one is spent, you use the other one while the other one recharges.

Blenders are multipurpose and multi-use. You can use them to prepare anything – from juices and smoothies to soups and baby food, and depending on what you plan to use your blender on, you should look at the capacity of it.

For example, if you’re on a diet and plan on having a portable blender with you to prepare meals, you need to find one that has the capacity to blend ingredients that would be enough to replace a meal.

Another factor is that battery-powered blenders are usually made to serve one person and have a capacity of around one serving.

This means that if you plan on using one to prepare drinks for a party, or even if you have a large family, you would have to find one that has a larger capacity.

This, on the other hand, means that the blender is larger and more powerful, not only resulting in them taking more space but also being more expensive.

How to Make a Healthy Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie in Summer

I love to start my mornings off with a refreshing cold smoothie. It’s also a great way to provide a quick, nutritious meal for the kids in the warm summer months.

In today’s post, I will show you how to make a delicious strawberry banana smoothie with yogurt.

This recipe is one of the first smoothies I have ever made and since then it’s been one of my favorite go-to’s.

This smoothie is very easy to make and great for beginners to try out.

It’s also low in calories and fat which makes it a great meal for breakfast or a light afternoon snack.

Strawberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C and the flavor pairs perfectly with bananas and yogurt.

The frozen bananas make the smoothie creamy while the frozen strawberries keep it nice and cold.

The probiotics in the yogurt also help with the digestive and immune system and prevent constipation.

I guarantee your kids will love this smoothie in the summer months. Its almost like having ice cream in a glass!

How to Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie in 15 Minutes

  • 1 Cup Frozen Strawberries (Approximately 10 Strawberries)
  • 1 Ripe Frozen Banana
  • ½ Cup Low Fat Plain Yogurt (Unsweetened Green Yogurt)
  • 2-3 Teaspoons Honey or Agave
  • ½ Cup Low Fat Milk

Serves: 2 Servings

Add all of the ingredients into a blender, blend for 1 minute until smooth.

Pour into a tall glass or jar and serve immediately.

Tips for Making a Strawberry Banana Smoothie

  • Freezing strawberries and bananas will allow you to enjoy them in the future when they are not in season. Remember to cut off the stem of the strawberries before placing them in the freezer.
  • Frozen fruit helps create a thicker consistency.
  • Depending on your blender, defrosting the fruits first to soften them will make it easier for you to cut with a knife.
  • If your smoothie is watery, add a bit of fruit or ice cubes to thicken it up.
  • Before serving, taste test the smoothie before pouring it out. The recipe will vary depending on the size of the berries you use.
  • You can make this smoothie up to 24 hours ahead. Store the smoothie in a bottle or airtight jar.
  • You can also use vanilla yogurt or strawberry yogurt instead of plain yogurt for more flavor.

Other Smoothie Variations You Can Try

If you’re not a huge fan of strawberries, you can try other fruit combinations such as:

  • Blueberries
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Cherries
  • Raspberries

You can also add superfoods such as chia seeds and hemp seeds for extra fiber and omega 3 fatty acids.

These ingredients will not affect the overall flavor of the smoothie and are an easy way to increase the nutritional value of your smoothie.

How to Thicken a Watery Smoothie: 23 Thickeners You Must Try!

Thickening a watery smoothie doesn’t have to be boring.

There are many ingredients you can choose from and it doesn’t always have to be bananas or dairy products.

My favorite go-to thickeners would be ice, protein powder, and frozen fruit.

Try one of the ingredients from the list and see which one you like best.

Thickening a smoothie doesn’t have to be boring with just bananas or dairy products.

However, keep in mind some ingredients will add more calories to your smoothie.

If you’re a diet to lose weight, it’s important to be mindful of the calories you will be consuming.

21 Ingredients For a Thicker Smoothie

1. Banana

First on the list are bananas. I love the taste of bananas so I always use them in my smoothies.

Bananas contain soluble fiber and pectin which makes it a perfect for thickening your smoothie.

You can also use other frozen fruits such as mangos, apples, blueberries, peaches, and kiwis.

If you don’t like the flavor of bananas, you can easily cover it up with nut butter or berries.

Fresh bananas will provide you with more starch and a thicker smoothie.

Bananas that are brown will make your smoothie sweeter and thicker.

2. Avacado

Adding avocado to your smoothie will give it an extra creamy texture.

Compared to bananas, avocado isn’t really sweet and you won’t notice the flavor as much.

You can scoop half of an avocado into a blender and combine it with other fruits and leafy greens.

3. Vegetable purées

Purees made from sweet potato, pumpkin, butternut squash, and carrot will make your smoothie soft and dense.

4. Milk ice cubes

If you would like to add more creaminess of your smoothie without having to water it down, you can switch of plain ice cubes for milk ice cubes.

Not a big fan of dairy? You can also use any milk of your choice, such as coconut, almond, cashew, walnut or soy.

Just pour the milk into some ice trays and move the cubes to a sealed bag and place them in the freezer for next time.

5. Yogurt

Yogurt is a classic go-to smoothie thickener. It’s rich in nutrients and high in protein.

If your body can handle dairy, I recommend using plain greek yogurt and avoid processed sugary, flavored yogurt.

You can also try coconut or almond yogurt if you’re lactose intolerant.

6. Cottage cheese

This next ingredient is only recommended if you can eat dairy.

Similar to yogurt, cottage cheese is an easy way to add more protein and thickens your smoothie at the same time.

7. Coconut meat

If you love coconuts, you can use coconut flesh to thicken your smoothie since its soft and gelatinous.

You can find frozen coconut flesh at your local grocery store or you can scoop them out from green coconuts.

If you like to add some coconut flavor to your smoothie, this is the go-to ingredient.

8. Silken tofu

Silken tofu is a great source of protein and amino acids. It’s completely vegan, dairy free and gluten free.

It is soft and dense which makes it perfect to add into your smoothies.

Adding tofu to your smoothie may sound weird but don’t worry too much about the taste.

You can try adding ½ cup of tofu and increase the quantity as you go.

9. Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are a classic ingredient you can use to thicken your smoothie.

Chia seeds add a little crunch to the smoothie and also provides your body with more energy thanks to the omega 3 fatty acids, protein and fiber.

There’s a couple of ways you can prepare chia seeds before adding them to your smoothie.

The first method is making a chia seed gel by soaking them in water overnight.

You can combine ⅓ cup of chia seeds with 2 cups of water to make this gel overnight.

The second method is making a chia seed pudding. Just combine 3 tablespoons of chia seeds with 1 cup of milk of your choice.

You can also add any extra sweeteners or flavors to the mix and let it sit overnight.

You can also add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds directly to your smoothie or 3 tablespoons of the chia seed gel or pudding

10. Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are a great source of omega 3 and fiber. Flax seeds can be added directly into your smoothie for a grainy texture.

If you’re not a huge fan of the texture, soakng them in water will help soften them up.

Just add a tablespoon of flaxseeds with 2.5 tablespoons of water and let it sit for 5 minutes before adding it to your smoothie.

Doing this will give you the best results.

11. Soaked Nuts

Nuts contain healthy fats and are a great source of protein. By soaking them, you will be removing the enzymes that prevent the gut from absorbing all the nutrients.

You can soak almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, or macadamia nuts in a bowl and leave them overnight.

Just rinse them off in the morning before adding them to your smoothie for a hearty meal.

12. Seed and nut butter

If you’re allergic, don’t worry I got you covered. There are many different types of nut butter you can find.

There’s almond, cashew, macadamia, hemp, sunflower and hazelnut butter which are great sources of plant-based proteins and is an easy way to thicken your smoothie.

Buying nut butter can be expensive so it’s best to make your own at home using a food processor.

Adding a tablespoon or two is enough to make your smoothie thick and creamy.

13. Gluten Free Flour

You can add one tablespoon of gluten-free flour like chickpea, coconut, rice, tapioca or almond to add more creaminess to your smoothie.

Gluten-free flours are also a great source of plant-based protein to add to your day.

14. Rolled oats

Rolled oats is another classic ingredient you can add to your smoothie for a thicker meal, making you feel more fuller faster.

The soluble fiber from oats makes them perfect for a breakfast smoothie.

You can grind the oats into a fine powder first before adding all your other ingredients if you don’t like the grainy texture it has.

If you’re following a smoothie diet for weight loss and improving your energy levels, oats are a must!

15. Quinoa

Quinoa is the best ingredient you can use to thicken up any smoothie.

Its protein and texture are great for thickening your smoothie without having to use bananas or dairy.

Just add ¾ cups of cooked Quinoa into a blender combined with your favorite fruits and veggies.

16. Psyllium Husk

Psyllium husk is a soluble fiber which you can find in powdered form.

Its a great ingredient to use because it absorbs water to create bulk.

This stuff is powerful so use with extra caution.

17. Jam

Jams such as strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, peach or apricot can be used to sweeten and thicken your smoothies.

Adding one spoonful of jam is more than enough for any smoothie.

18. Ice Cubes – Swap for last

Last but not lease are good old ice cubes.

You can even freeze fruit juice, whole fruits, and coconut milk to add to your smoothies.

Ice will help thicken up your smoothie without adding any allergens.

19. Sweet Potato

Adding cooked sweet potato is an easy way to thicken your smoothie.

Sweet potato is also a natural sweetener can create a silky texture.

Sweet potato also has many health benefits such as boosting your immune system and contains many vitamins and minerals we should be consuming each day.

Let’s not forget about that beautiful color.

20. Protein Powder

Adding protein powder to your smoothie can turn it into a small meal in a cup in a matter of minutes.

It’s also an easy way to provide your body with protein and also thicken it up at the same time.

You can add your favorite protein powder for more interesting flavors.

21. Xanthan Gum

Xanthan gum is a powerful powder used in cooking and baking to hold things together and it is also used to thicken smoothies.

Adding this powder to your watery smoothie will transform it into a decadent silky smooth drink.

Xantham gum will also make your smoothie more satiating and keeps you feeling fuller for longer.

The Smoothie Diet Review: Here’s What I Really Think!

My Review: Here’s My Thoughts and Opinions On The Smoothie Diet – Drew Sgoutas…

Hey! Elaine here.

My weight-loss story is one that many can relate to and find themselves in. I’ve been always struggling with weight ever since I was a young girl, but nothing major.

Not until I started college.

Having to stay up late and study, being away from home and everyone I knew along with the additional stress of living alone caused me to stop paying attention to what I eat.

I was staying up till dawn, eating fast food, drinking soda and energy drinks, every food that’s high in carbs and could get me through that day, or that exam.

Plus, fast food was way cheaper and faster to prepare, and bouncing between two jobs and college is not easy, as I believe most of you know.

That’s when I gained a lot of weight, weight that I couldn’t find a way to take off.

This unhealthy style of living continued even after I graduated because I really stopped caring about my body.

You know you get to that point when you don’t bother anymore.

I worked as a server maintainer, so my job didn’t involve much physical activity, and it often required working from home.

I had a part-time job at a call-center too, so my life revolved around my laptop mostly, without much time to do any physical exercise or cook healthy meals.

Even when I did have time, it was spent with my boyfriend Eric, playing on our Xbox or watching series.

He was a major foodie and a gamer as well so that further contributed to me (and him) getting massive amounts of weight.

And I think I was going to continue with that lifestyle until that day came…I was proposed to.

The thing I dreaded the most was now becoming something I would have to face – wearing a bridal dress.

I’ve always dreamt of having a big wedding and wearing a princess dress, but that was a dream I knew I wasn’t going to realize if I continued as I was. I had to lose weight, and I had to lose it as soon as possible.

So, I embarked myself on a journey to lose the weight I wanted so I can look as I’ve always pictured myself at my wedding.

I started reading every weight loss forum on the internet, read every article, joined every weight loss group on social media and what not.

You know, reading those success stories and how every nutritionist portrait the process, it all seems so easy, so I was very hopeful in the beginning.

Damn, I was even eager to start dieting!

I began experimenting with different diets, from those that promote healthy eating to those that basically starve you.

None of those seemed to be compatible with my body and the way I needed to diet.

Scheduled eating just caused me to starve myself to a certain point in the day, and then binge eat so I can fill my stomach till the next meal, and that caused me to put more weight, not lose it.

Like, every single one of those types of diets just tricks you into thinking “oh, I can have one or two slices of chips” or “I can eat this piece of cake and eat less the next meal”.

But, wrong. You can’t do that. I did that and gained even more weight. But that was because I was so hungry all the time.

I was getting so frustrated with myself that I began to let it all out on poor Eric.

I was constantly thinking “why isn’t this working as they said it did” or “how can everyone else do it, but not me”. But trust me.

Everyone else CAN’T DO IT. You don’t see the failure stories on social media, do you?

So…being frustrated because I couldn’t lose weight resulted in me starting to fight with Eric more often, which consequentially made me distance myself from him, the biggest support I had in my life.

I became depressed and unwilling to do anything, so I just sat at home, in my bedroom, feeling sorry for myself all day.

I began thinking I could never be happy again. Not until I lose the weight I wanted.

Ultimately, in a desperate attempt, I tried cutting down my portions to a bare minimum, which starved me to the point my health started deteriorating.

One day as I was walking down the hallway I started filling foggy and fainted.

Eric freaked out on me and immediately took me to the doctor to do blood tests. And they returned with a devastating blow.

Not only was my blood weakened, but I all the processed food I was eating caused major clogs in my fingers’ veins, which ultimately led to chronic inflammation.

And that can turn into a life full of pain, which was something that terrified me.

Now it wasn’t about my wedding anymore, it was my life and my wellbeing that were at stake.

I went home and cried my eyes out. That day was the lowest point in my life I believe.

The sole thought of being unable to move my hands and fingers was just…sheer horror for me.

It wouldn’t just mean a life of pain for me, but it meant that I wouldn’t be able to do my job anymore and I wouldn’t be able to be independent.

I went into a really dark place for a few hours then.

But being at my lowest point triggered something in me, something that said “No, you’re not going to let life beat you. You’re not going to sit and pity yourself anymore.

You’re going to get up and do what you intended to do all along- lose weight and be healthy”.

I got up and gave it another go. I immediately searched for diets for a busy lifestyle and found one that sounded odd at first but turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever found on the Internet.

It was a diet of smoothies only.

Nothing complicated, nothing to buy or cook, just…smoothies. Yes, I know it does sound weird, but trust me, it works well.

Who is the Creator of The Smoothie Diet?

Knowing my condition, I knew I had to find something developed by a professional that knows what they’re saying.

So it was a major relief when I read that the person behind it was Drew Sgoutas, a certified health coach and a nutrition expert.

He has the expertise and the knowledge required to be able to write this kind of program, so I felt confident starting it and believing Drew.

What’s Included with The Smoothie Diet

In the files, I found a complete 3-week weight loss and health improvement program, which was the ideal title I was looking for.

There was a total of 36 smoothie recipes that were arranged in a detailed schedule and sequence in which I should drink them to be able to maximize the results I got.

But, even after the 21-day weight loss period is over, I could continue with drinking them as meal replacements if I wanted to lose even more weight. Which is something I totally wanted.

What made it so easy to do this program is the amazing shopping list I had for each week.

My life is busy enough as it is, so having to make shopping lists and planning what to get at the grocery store is something I really don’t have time to do.

This way, I had everything I needed to last me the whole week written down.

And, another thing that really sealed the deal for me was the meal prep guide and the additional tips.

Thanks to the meal prep planner, I spent less time in the kitchen by following simple steps and tips for easier organization.

I had everything measured and sorted the day before, so in the morning I only had to blend all the ingredients together and I was good to go!

Bonuses – I was lucky enough to find the program when there were 2 bonuses included, so I was granted access to a 3-day smoothie detox program, which was very useful to do before I started the program.

It allowed me to clean my body and bring it to an optimal state so I can have even better results.

And the second bonus I received was a quick-start guide that is basically a shortened list of the whole program…like a to-do list that helped me keep track if I was forgetting something.

Although it might not seem as much, it’s really convenient to have, trust me. (Click here to see if it’s still included <<)

How The Smoothie Diet Works

The way this works is that instead of eating high-calorie food that contains tons of fat and grease, I was eating only clean food, mostly fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

These gave me everything my body needs but didn’t have the harmful carbs that are bad for my body and my health.

I was constantly getting informed on everything throughout the program, so I found out that when your body is starved, which is the case with many diets, the next time you eat in order to protect itself, it stores more fat, which ultimately makes you fatter (so that’s why it didn’t work!).

Also, processed food is very difficult for your body to decompose. It puts a strain on your digestive system because it might take even up to 24 hours for some foods to exit your body.

But with smoothies, since you blend all the food you’ll be eating, everything is extremely easy for your body to process, so it will be coming out a lot easier if you know what I mean.

The Smoothie Diet Pros & Cons

There have been so many positives about this diet that made it perfect for me. I could go on and on about the advantages of being on a smoothie diet compared to other diets, but some of the main highlights for me were:

Time-saving – As I said, time was something I had limited – both in daily life and in the time available to lose weight.

And with the smoothie diet, it took me almost no time to prepare my meals.

I wasn’t running late to work, didn’t have to stay up late to cook complex meals or eat something totally random.

Everything was sorted out for me, I just needed to follow the plan. Besides, having a diet where I didn’t have to eat minimal food and with it, lack energy, while also getting enough nutrients to get me through the day was ideal.

Keeping on a budget – Another major thing for me that the diet was gentle on my budget.

As young people saving for a wedding, I had to be careful with how much I spent, so it was great having a diet of ingredients that were either already in my fridge or costed less than I was spending on fast food.

Being healthy – Throughout the program, I received enough nutrients to be as healthy as possible, but still lose weight constantly.

I never felt hungry or that I wasn’t full because my body was constantly getting everything it needed. I stopped feeling bloated and my body felt somehow lighter and more balanced.

Better life quality – Feeling good about yourself and having more energy really does help DO BETTER in life.

I can now do all the things I thought I wouldn’t be able to do because I would always choose to go home and rest since I was feeling so tired all the time. I smile more often and talk to people more often, which has brought so many other positive changes in my life.

The Smoothie Diet Price: What A Bargain, Here’s How I Got Mine Cheap!

how to buy the smoothie diet

Conclusion: Very Happy With The Smoothie Diet

Oh my. Just writing this my hands are trembling from excitement. Me and Eric finally decided on getting a date for the wedding.

Now I know that my dream of wearing that beautiful wedding dress will come true!

I will be able to walk down the aisle proud of myself and what I’ve accomplished.

I won’t have to feel ashamed of what I’ve done to my body and try to cover it up with layers of clothes. But, that will be in the future. Let’s talk about how I’m feeling now.

I’m now repeating the diet for the 3rd time, so I’ve been on The Smoothie Diet for around 3 months, a period that has been life-changing for me.

Even though I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it in the beginning, the whole schedule was planned out so good that I didn’t even think of getting something else to eat.

Not only have I lost 25 lbs in such a short period of time, but my skin looks so much clearer and I have fewer breakouts.

This has given me back the confidence I’ve lost, so I’m more active at work and achieving better results.

I have more energy to bounce between two jobs, hanging out with friends and spending time with my fiancée.  So, it hasn’t only helped me with my physical appearance and self-esteem, it has helped me with my career too.

I’m more social now that my confidence is back. Previously, I hated how my legs looked, how my hands looked…how I looked in general.

I only saw the stretch marks, the cellulite, the fat. I even avoided looking myself in the mirror overall. You know, I didn’t even bother how I looked.

Even though I’m 29, I dressed like a grandma, always trying to cover up my flaws.

It was like I was trying to hide from the world. But now I’m not ashamed to put on a dress anymore.

I’m not ashamed to go out with other people and talk with them. It’s my anniversary tomorrow and I will finally put on a dress, something I haven’t done in God knows how many years. And you can bet that it won’t be a maxi dress!

Oh, and yes, having more confidence helps a lot in love life too. I think my fiancée is very grateful for that.

But one of the most positive outcomes of being on this diet was that Eric has been asking me to make him a smoothie more often.

He hasn’t been eating so much fatty food lately as well, which means he’s thinking about changing his habits too.

Having a healthy lifestyle together with the person you love is one of the best things in life. We’re now planning our wedding too, so my life has finally taken a turn for the better.

No, scratch that, not for the better. A turn for the best.
